Who is Behind Collabsource?

Collabsource Tools is an independent web utility project created and maintained by independent web software developers and technical authors. We started Collabsource because we noticed a frustrating pattern across the web: simple daily tasks—like compressing an image, formatting an API payload, converting a file format, or merging PDF documents—routinely required uploading private files to opaque third-party cloud servers, sitting behind aggressive paywalls, or signing up for unwanted subscriptions.

Our philosophy is simple: modern web browsers are powerful application engines. With HTML5 Canvas, Web Cryptography, and WebAssembly, these tasks can be performed entirely within your browser memory without ever transmitting your raw files over the internet.

Our Core Architecture: Zero Server File Uploads

Every utility on Collabsource is engineered to operate 100% client-side:

  • Local Browser Processing: When you drop an image or document into a tool, the data is loaded into your browser's local memory using standard browser APIs (such as the HTML5 File API and Canvas API).
  • Zero Remote Uploads: Your documents, code snippets, and pictures are not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
  • Privacy by Architecture: Because processing happens locally on your computer or mobile device, your confidential files remain under your complete control.

What We Provide

Collabsource offers 70+ free utilities categorized into five primary suites:

  1. Image Suite: Client-side image compression, format conversions (JPG, PNG, WebP, SVG), aspect ratio and DPI calculators, EXIF inspection/removal, cropping, and palette generation.
  2. PDF Suite: In-browser PDF merging, splitting, compression, page rotation, watermark application, page numbering, and text extraction using pdf-lib and pdf.js.
  3. Text & Editorial Suite: Word counter, character counter, sentence and paragraph counters, text case conversions, line sorting, whitespace cleaning, and text diff comparison.
  4. Developer Suite: JSON formatting and validation, minification, CSV/JSON converters, URL encoding/decoding, UTM builders, and SHA-256 cryptographic hash generation via the Web Crypto API.
  5. Calculators: Informational utilities including age calculations, percentages, discount savings, and standard BMI screening.
